How do you make popular Pakistani drinks such as lassi and chaas?

Lassi and Chaas are two popular drinks in Pakistan that are both refreshing and nutritious. They are traditionally made with yogurt, spices, and sometimes fruit, and are commonly consumed during hot summer months to cool off and rehydrate. Below are the recipes for making Lassi and Chaas at home:

Lassi Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups of plain yogurt

1/2 cup of milk

1/4 cup of sugar (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom

A pinch of salt

Ice cubes

Directions:

In a blender, add yogurt, milk, sugar, cardamom, and salt.

Blend everything together until the mixture becomes smooth and frothy.

Add ice cubes and blend again until the mixture is chilled and creamy.

Serve in glasses, garnished with chopped nuts or mint leaves (optional).

Note: For a fruit lassi, you can add mango, strawberry, or any other fruit of your choice to the blender and blend until smooth.

Chaas Recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups of plain yogurt

1/2 cup of water

1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon of salt

A pinch of black pepper

Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Ice cubes

Directions:

In a bowl, add yogurt and water, and whisk together until smooth.

Add cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture and whisk again.

Add ice cubes and stir until the mixture is chilled.

Serve in glasses, garnished with fresh mint leaves (optional).

Note: For a variation of Chaas, you can add grated ginger, chopped green chilies, and cilantro to the mixture for a spicy twist.

Both Lassi and Chaas can be enjoyed as a refreshing drink on their own or as a complement to a spicy meal. They are easy to make at home and can be adjusted to suit your taste preferences.
